Buy 110v Power tools that run off a 110v transformer. These work the same as a normal 240v power tool but the working voltage is much safer and meets the working standards of building sites and other places of work. If you are working at home, the 110v transformer plugs into the normal 240v mains sockets then steps down the voltage from 240v to 110v. Your 110v power tool then plugs into the transformer output via the standard circular plug and thats it your ready to use your power tool.

Things you need to know when using a power tool

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Remember your personal protective equipment also known as PPE. Just because you are working at a safer voltage doesn't mean you can't harm yourself or others. You are still at high risk of serious injury and even death using or in the visinity of a 110v power tool. Proper PPE is a must when using power tools, good safty footwear, safty goggles, gloves, dust masks, and ear defenders are the types of ppe you should be looking at using (depending what type of power tool you are going to be using)

Power tools make lots of noise when in use. Drills, grinders, saws, and sanders are the tools that make the most noise. Its advisable to use your tools in suitable working hours between 8am and 7pm weekdays and at weekends abit later in the day.

You don't have to have qualifications to use power tools at work or at home but power tools must be used by a compertant person. Cutting corners to save time is not acceptable, the potential for injury is extremley high using portable power equipment and missuse of equipment can't be reversed if accidents occur. For this reason it is always recommended that you never work alone when using power tools. In the case if injury you may require someone else to call for help.
